TORONTO – Yesterday’s win by the Ontario Conservatives in the Bay of Quinte riding is the blatant result of vote-splitting among the Liberals, NDP, and Greens. See graphic below.

“The Conservatives will continue to win in many ridings in Ontario, and across the country simply because the more progressive parties are dividing the non-Conservative votes,” said Barbara Schumacher, Cooperate for Canada. “It is clear that a majority of voters in the Bay of Quinte riding do not want to be represented by Ford’s scandal-ridden Conservatives,” she added.
“Our first-past-the-post system undermines our democracy,” said Marilyn Hay, Cooperate for Canada. “That is why we are calling on the progressive parties to cooperate as they did in France in order to better represent the majority’s voice.”
