Big Rallies and C4C

There are a lot of concerned citizens objecting to the actions of Ontario’s present government. They will be turning out in large numbers at protests on Sat. Aug. 29th (Previous events were: Sat. July 25th, July Sat. June 27thetc.)

There are over 60 protests planned across the province. Find one near you here: https://protestdougford.com/

It is great to have a simple double-sided sign that you can hold up. It can be slick or it can be homemade – both are good. The photos below can give you some ideas.

We are working with Fair Vote Canada https://www.fairvote.ca/ At some of the larger ones, they have been offered tables and opportunities to speak. If you do not already belong to this group, we encourage you join them online and look for them at the rallies. Go and join them and make some new friends.

These rallies are a great opportunity to call attention to the Ford government’s false majority and the need in Ontario for Proportional Representation.  Most of the people who will be at the rally are our natural allies, but many of them may not be aware of the connection between our electoral system and the issues that they are there to protest about.

We need to help our allies realize that if we had Proportional Representation, we would have seats at the table, in proportion to our share of the votes, instead of having to protest.  Under PR, the government would have to negotiate and compromise instead of passing whatever they wanted using their false majority.  Better representation and more voices at the table would produce better policies in the interests of all Ontarians.

If we really want to change things – we need to change our voting system. Please go to a protest and bring a sign that clearly and concisely makes the case for PR. Include a line that says join cooperateforcanada.ca  and fairvotecanada.ca  Below is an example of a HUGE sign made by Sherry Bowman in Burlington.

Ford has 100% of the power with only 43% of the vote representing 20% of voters
