Take Action: Riding Associations / Candidates

Canadian citizens have power when we work together. We need as many voices as possible to ensure that progressive leaders cooperate in order to prevent a CPC government and implement policies that put Canadians’ interests and future ahead of corporate interests, and Poilievre’s control of federal levers of power.

1. Focus on the Conservatives

In public debates and advertising focus your attacks exclusively on the Conservatives, their platform, and the disastrous implications of a Conservative win (accelerated climate breakdown, heightened affordability crisis, attacks on our commons, restriction of dissent). Do not attack the other parties.

2. In an ideal scenario, don’t run a candidate

If your party does not have a strong chance of winning the district, and you have not yet selected a candidate, don’t run a candidate that would split the vote between them and other progressive parties.

3. Run a paper candidate

If you have nominated a candidate but they don’t have a strong chance of winning, run them as a paper candidate. This allows the party to put their resources into ridings where your party does have the strongest progressive candidate.

4. Speak to your Party Leaders

You and other riding associations and candidates must engage with party leadership to ensure they see the absolute necessity of electoral cooperation for the next election. With their support, funds and resources can be allocated only in ridings where cooperation between the parties has identified the strongest candidate with the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate.
